To protect the privacy and security of student records, the college requires students to present valid personal identification for certain services and transactions. Depending on the service being requested, different types of identification may be required.

Important Information

  • Identification must be current, valid, unexpired and issued by a government agency or other approved authority.
  • The name on the identification must match the name on the student’s official college record.
  • Copies, images or digital versions of identification may not be accepted in all situations.

Program Admission, Course Registration and Student ID Card 

The following identification types are accepted for program admission, course registration and issuing a Student ID Card and will be verified by Gateway staff.

  • Driver’s License
  • Temporary Driver’s License (Paper)
  • Passport
  • State ID Card
  • Temporary State ID (Paper)
  • Military ID
  • Permanent Resident Card
  • Certificate of Naturalization (Document must include name, signature and photo)
  • Gateway/College ID
  • High School ID (High School IDs without a physical card require real-time portal login verification viewed by Gateway staff)
  • Employee ID (Document must include name, signature and photo)

Financial Aid

The following identification types are accepted for Financial Aid.

  • Driver’s License
  • Passport
  • State ID Card
  • Permanent Resident Card (I-551 only)
  • Certificate of Naturalization (Document must include name, signature and photo)

Please note that Financial Aid does not accept the following forms of identification: Temporary Driver’s License (Paper), Temporary State ID (Paper), Military ID, Gateway/College ID, High School ID and Employee ID.

Testing Services

The following identification types are accepted by Testing Services. Note that copies, images or digital versions of identification are not accepted. Physical identification must be used. Some individual tests may have different identification requirements. This will be specified when signing up for these tests.
