Tuition refunds are processed according to the Wisconsin Technical College System Refund Policy for program, material and activity fees. Refunds are applicable only from the date the student formally drops a class(es).

Tuition refunds for dropped or canceled classes are processed every Monday. If you paid for your classes by cash, check, credit or debit card at a Student Services Center on campus, a refund check will be mailed to you. No exceptions. Please update your address on My Gateway | My Profile card by selecting "Update personal information."

If you paid for your classes through My Gateway with a credit or debit card, your card will be credited the appropriate refund amount. Refunds are processed as quickly as possible. Credit or debit card refunds should appear on your card within 10-14 business days.

Refunds for Canceled Classes

A student is entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid for a class if Gateway Technical College cancels the class.

No Refund for Instructor Drops

A student who registers for a class but who fails to attend, or who stops attending during the refund period without dropping, may be dropped by the instructor. As an instructor drop is administrative and not student initiated, the student is not eligible to receive a refund.

No Refund for Withdrawals

No refund is made when a student withdraws from a class. Students withdraw from classes after the refund period has ended; i.e., after 20% of the class meeting times have elapsed.

Late Registration Process Refunds

Refunds for students who enter a class late and subsequently drop will be calculated based upon the start date of the class, not the date the student registered for the class. See the refund schedule above for details.

Contract for Service Refunds

Refunds to employers, agencies or institutions for students dropping contract for service classes are governed by the terms of the contract. Contact Business and Workforce Solutions for further information about employer contracts. Contact the High School Partnerships team for further information regarding high school contracts.
