Promise 2 Finish Details & Financial Info

Bring your big dreams of completing your college degree to life through Gateway’s Promise 2 Finish program! This scholarship program allows returning adult students to earn their associate degree or technical diploma completely tuition-free. If you have been out of college for more than two years, earned at least 12 college credits with a 2.0 GPA and are 23 or older, we encourage you to apply for the Promise 2 Finish program. Here are the details you should know:

Financial information

  • The Promise 2 Finish program fills the gap between federal and state grants and the cost of tuition at Gateway, so eligible students can attend Gateway tuition free! The Promise scholarship program is made possible through the generous support of the Gateway Foundation and its donors.
  • Eligible students must have an annual family earned income of $50,000 or less based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Support is calculated after federal and state grants are applied, but before loans, federal work study and non-tuition scholarships.
  • Students will be provided a maximum of $10,500 in tuition, depending on their financial need (the maximum amount of time in the program is eight semesters).
  • Students are still responsible for the cost of books, supplies and any extra course fees.
  • In order to be eligible for Spring 2021, students must apply for financial aid and be awarded financial aid by October 1, 2020.
    • Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using Gateway’s school code 005389. Not sure how to fill out your FAFSA? Call 1-800-247-7122 to set up an appointment with a Student Finance Specialist.
    • Students must be US citizens or natural or permanent residents of the US due to financial aid requirements.
