Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright Apprentice

If you are looking for a versatile career working with a wide range of tools and equipment, this is the perfect place to start. Maintenance mechanics and millwrights fabricate, install, dismantle or move machinery and heavy equipment according to layout plans or blueprints. In your future career, you’ll repair machines, mechanical equipment or building structures and assemble, install and set equipment using hand and power tools. 

  • Earn over $34 an hour as an established Maintenance Mechanic or Millwright.
  • Over 8,000 hours of blended on-the-job and classroom training provides a solid foundation for your mechanic or millwright career.

Qualifications

You must be in good physical condition, at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or equivalent. 

Get started as a Maintenance Mechanic or Millwright Apprentice

You should apply directly to employers, and entry requirements vary by employer. 

If you need assistance finding an employer who will take you on as an apprentice, please contact the local Apprenticeship Training Representative at 262-564-3210 to find an employer approved to train apprentices.

Once your contract is in place, Gateway’s Apprenticeship department will communicate with you regarding registration, classes and books.
