Responsibilities include patient care, lab tests and administrative recordkeeping. Gateway Technical College’s Medical Assistant degree program will provide you with experience in a balance of clinical, administrative and laboratory training preparing you for the diversity of duties and responsibilities you will perform on the job. Gateway Technical College's Medical Assistant Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB). Upon successful completion of the program, students can take the American Association of Medical Assistants certification exam. Upon passing the exam, students are considered Certified Medical Assistants. The program's goal is to prepare competent entry-level medical assistants in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. The Medical Assistant program at Gateway Technical College has a job placement rate average of 64.45% over the past five years.
