Hands-on learning is the focal part of the Barber Technologist program at Gateway and the smaller class size translates into more one-on-one training. Students will work on mannequins to design beards, haircuts, color and textured services utilizing the high quality equipment that is included in their student kits. When students complete their theory and practical classes, they will be practicing in a Barber Shop atmosphere with real clients in the Kenosha Campus Barbering Lab. Students have an opportunity to be involved with many activities including America’s Beauty Show in Chicago.
Gateway’s two-semester program is taught on the Kenosha Campus, sequentially and in a cohort, all three semesters. Here is the structure for the coming semesters:
|Semester 1 (Theory courses) Spring 2015
||Semester 2 (Lab courses) Summer 2015
|Semester 1 (Theory courses) Fall 2015
||Semester 2 (Lab courses) Spring 2016
|Semester 1 (Theory courses) Summer 2016
||Semester 2 (Lab courses) Fall 2016
Note: Gateway also offers a Cosmetology program on its Racine Campus. It concentrates less on men’s shave and instead on manicures, pedicures, and waxing.
