Gateway’s Diesel Equipment Mechanic technical diploma and Diesel Equipment Technology associate degree are offered at the world-class Horizon Center for Transportation Technology. The Diesel Equipment Mechanic technical diploma prepares students to become entry-level diesel technicians in as little as one year. You’ll learn about all types of diesel equipment and technology, including over-the-road, off-road and stationary equipment. Students work hands-on to learn the fundamentals of garage operations, DC electricity, air and hydraulic braking systems, HVAC systems and more. Students will also learn and perform proper annual DOT inspections to ensure on-the-road equipment is operating safely. Program graduates who wish to further their education can continue for another year to obtain an associate degree in Diesel Equipment Technology.
