Gateway Urban Farm and Market offers produce, herbs, plants, and educational opportunities you won’t find elsewhere!

Our student-run farm is managed by Kate Jerome, Urban Farm Director, garden author and teacher. She will host workshops and demonstrations, so come to learn! 

We have a unique selection of organically grown heirloom fruits and vegetables as well as a special selection of fresh, dried and potted herbs. A fun selection of in-season products and more! Garden flowers and houseplants, vegetable plants and hanging baskets are available through mid-summer.

April 27 to October 12, 2017

Garden Clinics at 6:30 p.m. - Come learn about gardening, farming, cooking and landscaping. Kate Jerome will lead garden clinics with samples, recipes and takeaways to make your own.

Ask the Expert - We will have an expert on hand to answer your gardening questions.

May 11: Greens
See and sample wild and domestic greens and microgreens, sample a salad and receive a recipe for salad dressing. You will have the opportunity to purchase your own greens and herbs for salad dressing.
May 25: Container growing
Learn container design and container growing basics. You will have the opportunity to purchase materials to plant your own container.
June 8: Herbs 
Learn how to grow, where to grow and taste our products made from herbs grown on our farm. Make your own herb oils and vinegars. You will have the opportunity to purchase herbs and materials to make your own vinegar.
June 22: Edible flowers
Learn what flowers are edible and how to use them in your landscape and cooking. Sample our edible flowers. You will have the opportunity to purchase potted flowers.
July 6: Spaghetti sauce
Learn how to make fresh marinara and slow-cooked spaghetti sauces. Learn about the types of tomatoes, growth habits and preserving. Purchase a bucket of heirloom tomatoes and the herbs to make your own sauce (with a recipe of course!)
July 20: Fruits
See what fruits we’re growing in the landscape, sample the delicious fruits, and learn how to cook with and preserve them. We will have fruit available for purchase as well.
August 3: Worm composting
Learn how to build a worm bin and see the benefits of using worm compost in the garden. You will have the opportunity to purchase the materials to make your own bin. August 17: Intensive methods - raised beds
Learn all about the intensive method of gardening in raised beds. We will provide “recipes” for building and planting your own beds.
August 31: Trellises
Learn about the different types of trellises you can build on your own. You will have the opportunity to purchase materials to build simple trellises.
