Dr. Caron L. Daugherty

Dr. Caron L. Daugherty began her tenure as Flint Hills Technical College’s seventh president in July of 2021. As president, she appreciates students who choose the community-technical college sector of higher education for their education and career choices. While student access to education drives this mission, it is on behalf of the student that this sector thrives and excels in its ability to collaborate on projects, its drive to develop workforce partnerships, and its commitment to engage with the community – critical actions to advance the success of the student.

Dr. Daugherty has 33 years of diverse higher education experience, including roles that span student affairs, academic affairs, and administration. These positions include those as an academic advisor, a faculty member, a director of grants and an honors program, and a dean. In executive positions, she has served as a vice president of instruction and as a vice-chancellor of instruction. Starting her career with the university sector, her introduction to the community-technical college landscape was as an adjunct faculty and part-time testing support staff with a community-technical college in the late 1990s. This experience launched her professional transition from the university environment to this service-oriented landscape in 2002.

Dr. Daugherty is on the Commission for Economic and Workforce Development with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). With the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), she serves on the Institutional Actions Council (IAC), and since 2014, she has been an HLC Peer Reviewer and for the last several years a Peer Review Chair. Recognitions include National Academic Advising Association Outstanding Advisor and Moraine Park Association of Career & Technical Education (MPACTE) Administrator of the Year.

Dr. Daugherty received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Missouri State University, her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri, and an Executive Leadership Certificate from Cornell University.
