Nomination deadline extended for Gateway’s Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award

Gateway Technical College has extended the deadline to submit nominations for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award to December 31.

Honorees will be recognized at Gateway Technical College’s 19th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration program at noon January 21, 2013.

The honorees will be awarded at the annual event for exemplifying the daily principles of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and serving the causes of equality, justice, freedom and peace.

To qualify for the honor, recipients need to be residents of Kenosha, Racine or Walworth counties. Other criteria include demonstrating commitment to the protection and advancement of human rights and social justice – and how this extraordinary commitment has improved lives and contributed to the wellbeing
of people. The individual should be demonstrating these values through volunteer activities and personal commitment above and beyond their paid employment.

Nomination forms are divided into two categories – Youth/Student and Adult – and can be found at Gateway’s Web site, www.gtc.edu/humanitarian.
