Grammy-award winning artist to hold events celebrating Native American Pride Month at Gateway

Gateway Technical College will hold three public events featuring Bill Miller, an award-winning Native American musician, world-class native flute player and formally trained artist, in honor of Native American Pride Month this November.

Miller has produced more than a dozen albums, received three Grammy awards and his artwork has been shown and sold at prestigious galleries across the United States.

“Three Elements in Native American Art”

Miller will share a historic and cultural overview of Native America by painting his way through a lecture, focusing on using the three traditional elements of function, beauty and spirit.

Nov. 20: Elkhorn Campus, 400 County Road H, noon
Student Commons, South Building
“Religion and Wellness Presentation”

Miller will present a classroom discussion in holistic and alternative medicine and the effects of religion on Native Americans.

Nov. 21: Kenosha Campus, 3520 30th Ave., noon
Garden Room, Academic Building
“Songs of Spirit: Music Workshop”

Miller will play the flute and drums, as well as provide an overview of the history of traditional and contemporary Native American music.
