District Board Appointments

The Gateway Technical College District is governed by a nine-member board of trustees representing the communities served by the three-county district, which is comprised of two employer members, two employee members, one elected official, one school district administrator, and three additional members. Members are appointed by the chairpersons of the Kenosha, Racine, and Walworth County Boards of Supervisors, and serve staggered three-year terms.


Notice is hereby given that the Board Appointment Committee will accept applications from District residents seeking appointment to the Gateway Technical College District Board until noon, Wednesday, July 31, 2019.  Following is a list of openings:

  • One (1) Employee Member

Vacant is one (1) Racine County Seat.
One (1) appointee will be appointed to a three-year term commencing on October 1, 2019 and expiring on June 30, 2022. This position must be filled by a female member in order to meet Gateway Technical College’s Plan of Representation.

AN EMPLOYEE MEMBER IS DEFINED AS:  You receive payment for work performed but do not qualify as an employer. An officer or agent of a labor organization automatically qualifies as an employee.

Applicants assume responsibility for receipt of the application/ affidavit, obtaining two (2) letters of recommendation, submitting a cover letter, and having the application/affidavit NOTARIZED PRIOR TO SUBMITTING.

The Appointment Committee will meet at 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2019, at the Burlington Center of Gateway Technical College, 496 McCanna Parkway, Burlington, WI, Room 100, to hold a public hearing on nominations, review the Plan for Representation; consider the appointment of representatives; and to consider other items relating to the appointment process. 

IN ORDER TO MEET ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS, ALL CANDIDATES MUST ATTEND THE APPOINTMENT COMMITTEE PUBLIC HEARING IN PERSON AND BE INTERVIEWED.

The Gateway Technical College Appointment Committee reserves the right to adjourn into executive session at this meeting per Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(c) and (1)(f) to consider information which, if discussed in public, would be likely to have a substantial adverse effect upon the reputation of any person and reserves the right to reconvene into open session for the purpose of taking action. WOMEN AND MINORITIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY.

For purposes of state mandated application period limitations, official advertising of this notice occurred on or before July 17, 2019, in the Racine Journal Times.  Any other posting occurred as a courtesy in an attempt to provide notice to all residents of the district.
