DVR

The Department of Workforce Development’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation provides employment services and counseling to people with disabilities, services to enable an individual to go to work, and training and technical assistance to employers regarding disability employment issues.

FoodShare Employment and Training (FSET)

The FoodShare Employment and Training (FSET) program is a free program that helps FoodShare members build their job skills and find jobs. FSET will assess your strengths, needs and preferences to help you with getting a job.

GED Test Assistance Program

The Gateway Foundation provides one-time $145 grants to cover the cost of the GED exam for students in need. Learn more about the program and eligibility requirements.

Skills Enhancement

The Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency’s Skills Enhancement program provides funding for eligible students to finish their education in key programs of study, including clinical nurse assistant, licensed practical nurse, education assistant, entry-level social worker, auto diagnostic technician and auto-service attendant.

Trade Adjustment Assistance

The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program helps workers who lose their jobs due to foreign competition, including work being moved outside of the United States. TAA program benefits and services make it easier to move past the disruption caused by your layoff, easier to develop in-demand skills and easier to land a good-paying, full-time job.

UMOS/NFJP

The National Farmworker Jobs Program, operated through UMOS in Missouri and Wisconsin, provides funding to help migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families achieve economic self-sufficiency by offering supportive services while working in agriculture or by helping them acquire new skills for jobs offering higher sustainable wages. 

Undocumented Students

Undocumented students may apply for the SC Johnson STEM Scholars program. Check back for more scholarships. 

Workforce and Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA)

The Workforce and Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides funds to assist United States citizens and those legally able to work in the U.S. to become gainfully employed with a livable wage. Goal setting and occupational skills training are at the center of this program, along with supportive services, education/training, child care assistance, transportation assistance and/or work equipment and supplies.
