Morgan Phillips, EdD
Interim president and CEO, Gateway Technical College
Morgan Phillips serves as Gateway Technical College’s interim president and CEO, a role he began in July 2025. As the college’s chief executive officer, he oversees the college’s more than 70 academic programs, eight campus and center locations and a $160 million budget. He most recently served as vice chancellor for Academic Excellence at Pima Community College in Tucson, Ariz. Prior to that, he served as campus president for Pima Community College and vice president of Academic and Student Affairs at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, N.C., among other leadership, faculty and students services roles.
Phillips earned three associate degrees: Pre-Engineering Studies, 1982, Brevard Community College; Interpreter Education (Signed Languages) 2008, Blue Ridge Community College; General Studies, 2022, Pima Community College. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts in 1986 from the University of Central Florida, a master’s degree in Mathematical Sciences in 1991 from the University of Central Florida, an Education Specialist in Higher Education Administration degree in 2000 from the University of Florida and a doctorate in Education Administration from the University of Florida in 2002.
