Gateway gives career and life stability, student says

Tori Starkey wanted more than just a job. She wanted a career.

She had dreams of obtaining a degree and much, much more than that. She wanted to be part of a team pushing the edge of technology and innovation, a place where she could travel – and yet feel secure in her career.

She didn’t have to look far to find that. She turned to Gateway Technical College and has already begun her journey to realize her career dreams.

“I wanted more than a degree, I wanted that career security – and I knew I had to come to Gateway to gain that. I wanted to be part of something that the world needs, to be part of a team that can create something evolutionary.

I want to be part of something where I can add value and perspective. That’s why I selected electrical engineering, and that’s why I selected Gateway.

“I want to be part of something where I can add value and perspective. That’s why I selected electrical engineering, and that’s why I selected Gateway. Gateway gives me the ability to have this in my life.”

Tori will graduate in Fall 2019 with a degree in Electrical Engineering but has already begun to use the skills she’s gained at Gateway at an area employer. She says the college has given her the confidence and skills to a family-sustaining career.

“You never know what the future may bring – and you will want to have the means to take care of yourself and your family. This degree will give my family and I that financial stability you need.”
