Gateway has given me the platform to be the best I can be and given me the confidence to do my best.

“Gateway’s greatest strength, to me, is its flexibility. I have been able to work full time since I’ve been here, and I work three jobs. With Gateway’s flexibility, I don’t think I would be where I am today. A lot of other colleges don’t offer the same opportunities that Gateway offers.

“I had a lot of health issues growing up. I always wanted to be an attorney but was told because of my health issues, I would not be able to do that. As my health declined over the years, I started to believe it. My high school guidance counselor even told me to not even apply to college – there was no point in doing it because of my health.

“Then I got an invite to one of the open houses here at Gateway and I went to see what it was all about. One of the advisers sat me down that day – and told me that it was possible, that I could do this, get a college degree.

“I think the support that Gateway gives, and that it really wants to help their students succeed, is what has gotten me to where I am today. It has pushed me to further my academic success. I went from being told I would never succeed to having straight A’s and a 4.0 grade point average … Gateway has given me the platform to be the best I can be and given me the confidence to do my best.”
