Gateway wins national Green Genome award College recognized for outstanding college sustainability and workforce efforts

Gateway Technical College was one of five exemplary community colleges to be presented with an American Association of Community College (AACC) Green Genome Award today. The five awards were issued as part of AACC’s expanding national effort to support environmentally sustainable practices, programs, and job training at the nation’s almost 1,200 community colleges.

Harvest fair to offer demonstrations, family fun, other ‘green’ activities

Gateway Technical College will host Harvest Fair, noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 4 on its Racine Campus, an event that will offer hands-on garden, food and other environmental demonstrations as well as fun activities for children.

Admission to the event is free. It will be held in the park in front of the Racine Campus, 1001 S. Main St., and a free gift will be handed out to attendees. For more information, go to gtc.edu/harvest.

Gateway expands popular Celebrate Earth Day

Green’ demonstrations, family-friendly activities and vendors increase at event

Gateway Technical College has expanded its Celebrate Earth Day activities and demonstrations for 2014 to include even more hands-on demonstrations, family-friendly activities and ways community members can be gentle on the environment at work and home.

The event will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26 at its Kenosha and Elkhorn campuses, featuring a number of earth-friendly activities, informational booths and children’s crafts.

Gateway Technical College will once again put on its popular community Celebrate Earth Day 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Kenosha, Racine and Elkhorn campuses, featuring a number of earth-friendly activities, informational booths and children’s crafts.

At the event, the public and communities served by the college can engage in the many hands-on demonstrations, family-friendly activities, vendors and informational opportunities that will show them how they can positively impact the environment.
