Three Gateway apprentice students receive Great Lakes Tools of the Trade scholarships

Three Gateway Technical College apprentice students were awarded $1,000 Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation Tools of the Trade scholarships to help them cover out-of-pocket expenses such as tuition, tools and clothing so that they are able to complete their training.

The Gateway apprentices are part of a statewide effort by Great Lakes to award $200,000 in scholarships to 200 construction and industrial trade apprentices attending Wisconsin Technical College System colleges. Gateway apprentices awarded the scholarships are:

  • Brandon Heino (Delavan) tool and die
  • Joshua Majescalco (Kenosha) electrician
  • Shane Nelson (Racine), electrician

Since the program was launched, 13 Gateway apprentices have received $1,000 scholarships from Great Lakes.
