Several Gateway students from Elkhorn Campus BPA chapter take honors at national BPA competition

Tanya Galvan (Burlington) took home first place in the Human Resources Management event of the Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference held May 6-May 10 in Anaheim, Calif.

Several other Gateway students from the Elkhorn Campus Chapter of BPA also competed and placed well at the conference. Erica Pitner (Burlington) placed second in the Graphic Design Promotion event, while Holly Anderson (Waterford), Sheryl Pitner (Burlington) and Greg Pitner (Burlington) placed second in the Presentation Management Team event.

Students also placed in the top 10 at the national conference, including: Sheryl Pitner in Advanced Office Systems; Erica Pitner in Entrepreneurship; and Galvan in Entrepreneurship. Galvan and Erica Pitner also placed in the top 10 in the Presentation Management Team event.

Students were judged by industry professionals who are able to also share their expertise with students.

BPA is the national career/technical student organization for students preparing for careers in the business field.
