Johnson Bank donates $30,000 to Gateway for veteran in Sharepoint program

Johnson Bank donated $30,000 to Gateway Technical College Foundation Inc., to be used for a qualified veteran admitted to the college’s Sharepoint developer program.

The scholarship will allow the student to receive a stipend to defray living expenses during the intense, 15-month program and allow them to better focus on their studies.

“There is a true business demand for this Sharepoint program locally and across the country,” said Tom Mahoney, Johnson Bank president. “Gateway has demonstrated great experience in developing and training students in this relatively technical area. Equally important to Johnson Bank is we get to work with, and employ, local talent with this highly desirable skill set. This is a win-win for everyone involved and we are fortunate to have Gateway in our back yard.”

The Sharepoint program is held eight hours a day, five days a week for the tenure of the program.

“We are grateful to Johnson Bank for this wonderful investment in a Gateway student. It will transform the life of the recipient,” said Gateway Technical College Foundation Executive Director Jennifer Charpentier.

In order for the student to continue to receive the scholarship, they must be a veteran with an honorable discharge status, maintain at least a 3.0 grade-point average and remain in good standing with the college.
