Coronavirus FAQ

March 17, 2020 (updated March 27, 2020)

What about Business and Workforce Solutions apprenticeship, Fast Forward grant and contract for service training?

Effective March 18, apprenticeship, Fast Forward funded coursework, and any other on-campus contract trainings are moving to online and distance learning formats if possible - no classes will be held on campus. Students should connect with their instructors for updated information on how the course will continue moving forward.

Off-campus business contract training will continue as scheduled unless the host company contacts Business and Workforce Solutions to postpone.

What if I don’t have a computer at home?

If you don’t have the technology you need to complete your coursework, such as a computer, please contact your instructor to discuss your options.

What if I don’t have internet at home?

If you don’t have internet access at home, some internet providers may offer discounted or free service during this time. Please see the Student Technology Resources page.

If you aren’t able to complete your coursework due to lack of internet service, please contact your instructor to discuss your options.

What about Every Child’s Place Daycare on the Kenosha Campus?

Every Child’s Place will be open to families until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18. At that time the facility will close until further notice.

Will I have to pay a fee to reschedule my testing?

Testing candidates who were already scheduled when Gateway closed should be entitled to a cancellation or reschedule without fee from their test provider (Pearson Vue, Kryterion, etc) because their appointment was cancelled by our facility and through no fault of their own.

Gateway has issued a site closure notice with our providers, and your provider will contact you to let you know about the cancellation and reschedule. Unfortunately, with site closures all over the country and providers like Pearson Vue themselves closing their own sites, it may take some time for them to contact you.

Please feel free to contact your provider’s customer support line for immediate assistance.

When will I hear about plans for my classes?

Program deans and faculty are working to develop alternative delivery methods to ensure students are able to complete their Spring semester coursework. We anticipate all students will receive notification by the end of the day on Wednesday, March 18. Students should monitor both their Gateway student email and Blackboard for updates.

What if my classes are very hands-on?

Not all academic offerings easily lend themselves to online delivery. Therefore, we are working on the best-possible solutions for science labs, clinicals, and other experiential learning labs like welding and CNC. Watch your Gateway student email and Blackboard for updates from your instructors regarding your specific classes.
