You have a right to reach your educational goals, and reasonable accommodations will be made for students with documented disabilities. Gateway’s intent is to provide equal access to programs and facilities on all campuses at no additional cost. To best facilitate support services, students should as soon as possible contact the Disability Support Services (DSS) instructors prior to the semester and provide documentation of their disability.
- DSS instructors will verify disability documentation.
- The DSS instructors, along with the student, will determine semester accommodations based on the documentation recieved or on file.
You must meet with the DSS instructor each semester to receive and continue accommodations. It is your responsibility to notify the DSS instructor when these accommodations are necessary or need to be changed or modified.
Disability support services begin when your documentation is in place and the accommodation plan has been written and accepted by you and the DSS instructor. Services are not retroactive and accommodations will not be provided until documentation has been received and evaluated. For this reason, we encourage you to seek accommodations as soon as possible.
