Merriam-Webster defines the term integrated as, marked by the unified control of all aspects of industrial production from raw materials through distribution of finished products. Another way to define the term is that an organization is structured in a way that all the units function cooperatively and collaboratively. These definitions are at the core of the work that is done at the SC Johnson integrated Manufacturing and Engineering Technology Center.
The focus of this center is on economic prosperity and job creation, using innovative tools for training, product development, and business growth.
The State of the art facility hosts the region’s first flexible manufacturing lab dedicated to training the manufacturing workforce through short-term customized training. A unique feature that sets the facility apart is the Industrial Design Fab Lab. This creative workspace offers inventors, students, and businesses the opportunity to take an idea and use programs to bring it to life, prototype it and then create the finished product in the flexible manufacturing lab.
The center is a business ecosystem in and of itself having focus areas in economic development, innovation and entrepreneurial services, as well as engineering education and workforce training. The expertise of a vast network of businesses and community resources in the Southeastern Wisconsin corridor are utilized, providing the most comprehensive approach to service and education.
