Some counties may also guard prisoners in transit between jails, courtroom, prison or other points. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the annual salary for Jailers in 2018 was $49,300.
This four-week, 160-hour program qualifies its graduates to become certified as Basic Jailers in Wisconsin. Course candidates must be 18 or older, be a US citizen, complete an oral interview with a panel and undergo a physical assessment and criminal history records and procedures. Upon acceptance, you'll learn hands in Gateway's Kenall Protective Services Center.
