Submitting the FAFSA is an easy way to see if you qualify for government assistance in the form of grants, loans and work study to help pay for your education. To start your FAFSA, there are a few things you’ll need on-hand:
Your FSA ID

Gateway’s School Code
Necessary Tax Documents
Get Federal Student Aid ID.
You can create your FSA ID at fsaid.ed.gov.
Complete and submit FAFSA.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Be sure to use Gateway’s school code: 005389. Students are advised to submit their application by the application priority dates.
Review your Student Aid Report.
Your Student Aid Report (SAR) will arrive by email or U.S. Postal Service once your FAFSA has been processed. Review your SAR and log into your FAFSA account to make any needed corrections.
Gateway gets your FAFSA data.
Once your data is received, the Financial Aid Office will contact you via email and My Gateway if additional information or documents are required.
Eligibility and aid award determined.
You will receive an email approximately two to four weeks after all requested forms have been received notifying you that your award letter is available via My Gateway by selecting "Financial Aid | My Financial Aid Award."
Accept or reject your loans.
Log into My Gateway to accept or reject your awarded student loans. Gateway automatically accepts any grants you are awarded on your behalf.
Your aid is disbursed!
Your aid will be sent to your student account after classes begin and your enrollment has been verified.
