What Do My Scores Mean

Results of placement testing are used to help identify your present strengths and needs so the team at Gateway Technical College can help you build a solid plan for your success.  Please keep in mind that there is no such thing as a passing or failing score.  Gateway uses the results of your assessment for course placement.  While we don’t want you to enroll in classes that are too difficult, we also don’t want you to take courses that are too easy.  The messages on your score report will tell you which Reading, English, and Math courses are right for you based on your assessment results.  Our goal is that you enroll in courses that are just right so that you are successful in reaching your program requirements and educational goals.

To see which courses you should enroll in based on your placement score and to see the sequence of courses that follow, see the Reading, Writing, Math, & Computer Skills Score to Course chart.
