Earn College Credit in High School

You can earn college credit for free while still in high school! You have tons of options to earn both high school and Gateway Technical College credit for courses you take throughout your high school career. The benefits of dual credit add up, including:

Ways to Earn Credit in High School

Transcripted Credit

Earn high school credits and college credits at the same time by taking Gateway courses taught by qualified teachers at your high school, using the same textbooks and materials as Gateway.

Advanced Standing

Advanced standing credits are similar to transcripted credit, but are not awarded until you enroll at Gateway after high school. You must earn at least a B in your high school courses and your school must have an advanced standing agreement with Gateway.

Start College Now

High school juniors and seniors are eligible to take a wide variety of classes through our Start College Now program. Credits earned can be applied toward a degree at Gateway Technical College or many other Wisconsin colleges.

Virtual college courses allow you to experience free courses without leaving your school. Video and online tools are used to deliver courses using your high school’s VANguard classroom.

Local high schools contract with Gateway to offer Gateway courses (taught by a Gateway instructor) at the high school or at Gateway in a closed section for high school students only.

Earn Gateway Technical College credit, a certificate or diploma before you graduate high school with Gateway instructors through High School Academy opportunities.
