Advanced Placement (AP)

Advanced Placement courses (AP) are offered to high school students who are academically prepared to take college-level coursework. AP brings the college experience to the high school student.

By taking AP courses and scoring successfully on the related AP Exam, students can save on college tuition by fulfilling degree course requirements. Please read Gateway’s guidelines on accepting AP scores below:

  1. To receive proficiency college credit, a student must be accepted into an associate degree, technical diploma, certificate or apprenticeship program offered by Gateway.
  2. To receive proficiency college credit, students must submit an official (unopened) AP test score directly from College Board to Gateway Technical College.
  3. To receive proficiency college credit (PR), a minimum score of 3 is required for accepted AP exams.

To request official scores from the last four years, contact the CollegeBoard. AP scores that are over four years old are archived and need to be ordered and mailed to the Registrar's office at: 1001 S. Main Street, Racine, WI 53403 ATTN: Registrar's Office
