Pay scale: $14.16 - $31.46 per hour
Plumbers work is active and sometimes strenuous. They work indoors and sometimes outdoors. This includes heights as well as trenches. Often, work is done in cramped, wet, or dirty locations for long periods of time.
General qualifications: Must be in good physical condition and have a valid driver's license.
Must be 18 years old and a high school graduate or equivalent. Must pass aptitude test, personal interview, and submit an application.
Length of training
The training program lasts five years consisting of no less than 8,000 hours of on-the-job training with a minimum of 500 hours of classroom instruction and some night classes. Journeyman examination taken upon completion of apprenticeship.
