Global Enrichment Programs

Culture & Language of Italy

Tentative dates: July 17 - 30, 2015

Learn the language and culture of Italy in the classroom and then experience it as you travel to Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan.  Participants will enroll in a three credit Culture & Language of Italy course providing them essential conversational Italian as well as knowledge of the Italian culture. Once in Italy participants will travel to cultural and historical destinations such as the Trevi Fountain, the Sistine Chapel, and the Colosseum along with experiencing local art and wine tours.  The entire trip will be lead by Italian language instructor, experienced Italian travel guide, and native of Genoa, Italy, Ralph Annina helping travelers make the most of their Italian experience.

Program is open to all Gateway students and staff. Please see application for estimated program costs. Student participants will receive a scholarship of up to $1,500. Coursework can be included in financial aid if eligible helping to make the experience affordable.

Gateway staff participating in the trip are eligible for $500 in professional development funds as well as tuition reimbursement.

Experience Iceland

Travel Dates: April 29 - May 8, 2016

Experience Scandinavian art and design, visit museums and go on outdoor adventures. Participants will travel to Reykjavik, Iceland and participate in a two-day course in Viking and Norse mythology at the University of Iceland. Experience will also include visits to volcanoes, waterfalls, geysers, whale watching and glacier climbing. Open to all Gateway students and staff.

Peru Service Learning

Travel Dates: April 29 - May 8, 2016

Participants will travel to Peru to engage in a global enrichment experience with a focus on leadership and service. Students will stay and assist with needed service projects at Casa Hogar Juan Pablo II, which is a home for orphaned and abandoned children. In addition, participants will travel to Machu Picchu for a guided exploration of the ancient Incan lost city. Open to all Gateway students and staff.
