Effective May 1, 2017, the Health Unit Coordinator program will no longer accept new applications for admission.
With input from local employers and our advisory committee, we acknowledge the role of the HUC in southeastern Wisconsin is changing. In response, Gateway Technical College is reviewing our curriculum and will make a decision in the next several months to either refresh the program or close it permanently. Please check back to this site often for updates.

Take your passion for helping others to the next level by obtaining a technical diploma as a Health Unit Coordinator from Gateway Technical College. This technical diploma will open doors for you to obtain a position in the rapidly growing healthcare industry.
Health unit coordinators prepare medical records for new patients, input healthcare data, maintain patient charts and perform other non-clinical tasks related to patient admission and discharge. Graduates can also work as receptionists in a hospital or other healthcare setting.
Gateway provides students with training beyond the classroom with an eight-week clinical rotation at a local hospital. The program includes general education, typing, medical terminology and health unit management training. Beyond learning medical knowledge, students also learn pertinent skills such as customer service, time management and stress management techniques.
