Harvest Fair is a free family event designed to educate about locally and organically grown food and environmental sustainability as well as experience autumn along the shore of beautiful Lake Michigan.
Children’s Activities Area:
- Pumpkin decorating. First 100 kids get a small pumpkin to decorate and take home (using markers).
- Pick up a free, original carving template to take home.
- Pumpkin bowling. Children use pumpkins as bowling balls to try for some strikes
Receive information on natural home and personal products, foods, cooking oils, and more (see list of vendors below)
Demonstrations & Workshops
Learn about gardening, urban farming, food preservation, juicing, composting, fresh water in your community, how to infuse more “green living” into your home and more in the workshop and demonstration area. Learn about preparation of your locally/organically grown produce with demonstrations by Gateway’s Culinary Arts department.
Enjoy live music performed by Folkswagon...a regional band with its roots in Folk, with a little bit of Country and the fire of Rock ‘n Roll. Original music--a perfect gift for a great autumn event.
