Global Enrichment Study Abroad Program Glasgow Scotland & Dublin Ireland

Tentative Travel Dates: April 21 - May 2, 2020 (Dates are subject to change based on airfare)


Participants will stay on campus at New College Lanarkshire, near Glasgow, Scotland. During the visit, they will participate in cross-cultural and academic activities with students. Students will visit Glasgow and the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. Students will then fly to Dublin to begin their program with Institute of Study Abroad Ireland in Bundoran, Donegal County. Students will stay in apartments and have daily lectures, field trips, and experience the local music culture. The academic concentration will be on Irish History, Social Justice and Global Citizenship. Surfing lessons will be available. There will be one day in Dublin before returning to the US. This program is open to students, staff, and alumni.

To be eligible to apply to this program you must:                                       

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be in compliance with department and college policies and free of disciplinary action or
  • progressive discipline action
  • Have or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport by January/February 2020

Additional eligibility requirements for STUDENTS:

  • Have completed 6 credits at Gateway 
  • Be declared in a Gateway Associate Degree or Diploma
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4-point scale) in declared program
  • Be able to provide two (2 letters of recommendation from Gateway faculty)
  • Be available for an interview in November 2019

Additional eligibility requirements for STAFF:

  • Have been hired prior to December 31, 2018
  • Approved Activity Request from your Dean/Supervisor
  • Subject to availability

Successful candidates will work well in a team environment, have the social maturity to represent the U.S. and Gateway abroad, and be able to meet deadlines.
