Which campuses offer the test I need and where are the Testing Centers located?

Testing Centers are located on our Elkhorn, Kenosha and Racine campuses, however, not all tests are offered on each campus. You can find the location of each test on their individual pages.

Click here for directions and maps for each campus.

How should I prepare for my test?

Find your test here, and review the test you wish to take. You will find sample questions to help you prepare. Accuplacer offers an online study app to help you prepare for your test. You can also use the free study materials and instructor support at your campus’ Learning Success Center or visit Gateway’s Tutoring Services for one-on-one help.

Can I reschedule my test if I can’t make it to my original appointment time?

Reschedule policies vary by test and test client. If you scheduled your test through an outside testing client (Pearson VUE, TD, etc.), you must reschedule it through them and abide by their rescheduling policies. If you scheduled your test through Gateway (in-person or by phone) you can reschedule your test on or before the day of the test at no charge. After that, you’re marked as a no show and will be required to repay for a new appointment.

Can I bring personal belongings to my testing appointment?

During check-in, you will be asked to lock up any personal belongings, including cell phones and other digital devices, while you are testing. You will be provided a locker and key, which you can keep with you while you are testing. Food and drinks are not allowed in the Testing Center, unless medically necessary. Children are not allowed in the Testing Center and can’t be left alone without adult supervision.

How do I earn my GED/HSED?

The first step in earning your GED or HSED is to attend a free orientation, which is required by the State of Wisconsin before you can begin testing. Sign up for an available orientation through Student Services or online via My Gateway. During orientation, GED/ABE instructors will go over all of the steps of earning your credential, set you up with an account for signing up for tests and direct you to resources for help studying/preparing for your tests.
