Education & Community Events

The Center for Sustainable Living provides a resource to the community, Gateway instructors and students as a venue for discussing and learning sustainability skills for business—and life. To promote a green lifestyle, Gateway hosts workshops periodically dealing with topics in sustainability as well as the popular annual event Celebrate Earth Day. Whether you want to gain a solid foundation in sustainability, organize a field trip or implement greener practices at your workplace, there’s something for everyone!

Celebrate Earth Day

Each year, Gateway hosts Celebrate Earth Day, a large community event to promote sustainability and an environmentally-friendly lifestyle. This event centers around community education and support for the environment such as informational booths, hands-on kids activities, electronics recycling and more.

Workshops

Seminars led by experts on a number of sustainability-related topics provide training to business and community members on practices including gardening, renewable energy, smart recycling, wildlife and more. Contact Kallie Johnson at johnsonka@gtc.edu or 262-564-2196 for more information.

K-12 Teachers

Use the Center and grounds as a resource for environmental education, from reading under an apple tree for kindergarteners to providing high school students with the opportunity to see how solar energy systems work.
