Series One

Class 1: At the Beginning (Computer Basics: Level 1)
Tuesday – July 8, 2014

This class is perfect for those with no prior computer or those just beginning to work with computers.  In this class we will learn some of the basic skills (i.e. mouse, keyboard, computer terminology).

Class 2: Be In Charge - Computer Basics: Level 2
Thursday – July 10, 2014

In this class you will develop the practical skills necessary to enjoy and operate your computer with confidence!  Be in charge of what is on your computer.  Learn about:

  • Menu and tool bars
  • Ribbons
  • Icons
  • Function keys
  • Help features

Class 3: File Management
Thursday – July 17, 2014

You will learn what is on your computer and where your files are stored; making it much easier for you to use it and find things when you need them. Learn to:

  • Create, close, open and manage files 
  • Create and save folders (and never lose a file again)

Class 4: Control Panel
Tuesday – July 22, 2014

In this class you will learn what can be found in the control panel and how to set-up user preferences.

Class 5: Back Up
Thursday – July 24, 2014

Understanding your computer and file storage are covered and will make it much easier for you to learn how to:

  • Burn a CD
  • Copy files to a flash drive or external hard drive
  • Make back-up files

Series Two

Class 1: Keeping Your Computer Alive & Healthy
Tuesday - August 5, 2014

We will cover basic system maintenance and what to do if your computer gets a virus.  You’ll learn about:

  • Anti-virus programs
  • Tips on how to keep your computer running smooth
  • Restore points
  • How to secure your computer

Class 2: Entertainment World
Thursday - August 7, 2014

In this class some of the things you learn about are electronic books and how to work with digital pictures.

Class 3: Welcome to the Wide World Web (WWW) - Internet Usefulness
Tuesday - August 12, 2014

Learn how to determine if the information that you find on the web is reliable and accurate. You will also learn how to create bookmarks/favorites and how to organize them.

Class 4: Electronic Mail - Basic E-mail Technology
Tuesday - August 19, 2014

This class is essential if you want to set up an email account or are just starting out.  Learn how to set-up, use and manage an e-mail account.  You will also learn about attachments and receiving/sending messages. 

Class 5: Social Kinship - Computer Based Social Networking
Thursday - August 21, 2014

Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, you've heard of them, but how do you use them to your best advantage? Learn more about using Facebook in this class.  Learn how to create a profile, and useful tips and tricks for this tool so you can better communicate with friends, family and co-workers.
