Automated Manufacturing Systems Technician

If you want to call the shots for the robots and step into the future now, obtain an associate degree from Gateway Technical College as an automated manufacturing systems technician. This degree program covers a broad range of disciplines, giving students an understanding of electrical, electronic, electromechanical and mechanical components, plus microprocessors, computers and inventory/quality control. Additional certification may be obtained in manufacturing maintenance and programming for manufacturing. An optional curriculum targets the manufacturing of plastics. Step out of line and be prepared to take a lead role at a highly automated factory with an associate degree in automated manufacturing systems from Gateway.

Great paying fun careers, and lots of them! North American robotics suppliers saw orders climb 36% in the first half of 2005, putting the industry on pace for a record year, according to figures from the Robotics Industries Association. More than 150,000 robots are now in use in U.S. factories. With the increase of robots, there is also an increased need for people who can set up, program and maintain them, skills that are taught in the AMST program.

Manufacturing companies that are automating (using robots) are growing and demanding people who have the skills to set-up, program and repair the automated equipment. Graduates of the AMST program will have a background in Robotics, CNC programming, electronics, and PLC’s that will open many lucrative fields to them.
