Going Green
“Green” Horizon
Gateway has taken special effort to look into increasing its use of environmentally friendly products and equipment, particularly here at the Horizon Center.
To
celebrate and further educate visitors to the Horizon Center about
environmental strides taken in the transportation industry, Gateway has
installed a “Green” wall that features an interactive touch screen that
allows the visitor to choose information from a menu.
- Siemen’s environmental monitoring.
To ensure the safety of students and visitors, Siemens has installed
censors throughout the Horizon Center that monitor CO and CO2 emissions. The Green Wall allows visitors to observe the levels at
any time, as well as the lighting usage throughout the facility, which
is being monitored and controlled to minimize unneeded energy
expenditure.
- Weather: Pilots in particular value weather information. NOAA weather for the Kenosha area is available on the screen.
- Green Gateway: This
section discusses the myriad actions taken by Gateway to reduce
negative impact on the environment, including at Horizon Center.Gateway
is adopting "green" programs developed by two Racine-based companies
who produce paper products and cleaning solutions.
- JohnsonDiversey's Responsible Solutions which promotes cleaning products that focus on reducing the negative effect on indoor air quality and Kranz GreenTM Green Cleaning chemicals, equipment, paper, supplies, training, and support.
- Horizon Center has chosen to use environmentally
friendly paper towels throughout the facility, bath tissue, green
certified foam soap with a touchless dispenser, an environmentally
friendly Johnson cleaning chemical for its primary multi-surface
cleaner, and a CRI Green Labeled industrial upright vacuum
- Green Trends in Transportation. While the transportation industry is seen as a major source of
pollution, while the growth in transportation has skyrocketed, it has
maintained or reduced its negative impact on the environment by
adopting numerous technological advances to its vehicles. This
section views just a few of those advancements.
