Academic Development

Give your life–and job–a boost. Finish your high school education, improve your English or brush up on your basic skills. Gateway Technical College offers a number of programs to help you increase your current academic skills–to upgrade your job and your life.

Whether it’s learning English, earning your HSED or GED, taking a refresher class or obtaining support for your academic journey, Gateway will be there. We have instructors who are experts in working with you in whatever area you need the most support.

We offer the following programs to help students:

  • ELL: Gateway provides training designed for adults whose native language is not English. Training focuses on developing reading, writing, speaking and career development skills.
  • GED/HSED: Gateway can help you earn your GED or High School Equivalency Diploma.
  • Adult high school: Adult high school provides the opportunity for adults 18 and older a few credits short of earning their high school diploma to do so.
  • Adult basic education/skills: Gateway’s Adult Learning Centers provide the opportunities for students and individuals to review or improve their basic skills in many different academic subject areas including reading, writing, math and science, to name a few.
  • Basic computer skills: Computers are used in some way at most workplaces today. No matter how much you know, Gateway can help you learn more – even if it’s learning from the point of turning on the computer.
