Seeking fun, educational events this summer? Gateway to offer summer camps

Looking for fun, exciting and educational activities for your middle-schooler during the summer months?

Look no further than Gateway Technical College.

Gateway will hold its popular summer camps again this year with hands-on, fun learning, featuring such activities as building a rocket, creating designs for hair and nails and using a 3-D printer to design and build virtually any item.

Camps are held in Gateway facilities in Walworth, Kenosha and Racine counties. Space is limited, so those interested are encouraged to sign up.

Creativity with Signed Languages. 8:30 a.m. to noon, June 16-June 19, Elkhorn High School, 1401 Veterans Drive, Elkhorn. A second camp will also be held June 23-June 26, same time and location. Cost: $50.

Maker Camp. 8:30 a.m. to noon, June 23-June 27, SC Johnson integrated Manufacturing and Engineering Technology Center, 2320 Renaissance Blvd., Sturtevant. Cost: $125. Students will use cutting-edge design programs and tools including 3D printers in Gateway’s Fab Lab to design and create their own projects.

Kids in the Kitchen, 8:30 a.m. to noon, June 23-June 26, Demonstration Kitchen Room L009, Lake Building on the Racine Campus, 1001 S. Main St. Cost: $50.

Let’s Get Happy: Health and Positively Powerful You! 8:30 a.m. to noon, July 7-July 10, Room 100, Burlington Center, 496 McCanna Pkwy., Burlington. Cost: $50. Students will get energized as they learn about their body and mind with fun activities including games, exercise and yoga.

Designs for Hair and Nails. 8:30 a.m. to noon, July 14-July 17, Room T509, Technical Building on the Racine Campus, 1001 S. Main St. Cost: $50.

Fun with Graphics and 3D. 8:30 a.m. to noon, July 14-July 17. Fab Lab in the SC Johnson integrated Manufacturing and Engineering Technology Center, 2320 Renaissance Blvd., Sturtevant. Cost: $75.

Keeping the Earth Green. 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., July 28-July 31, Center for Sustainable Living on the Kenosha Campus, 3520-30th Ave. Cost: $50.

Youth Power Academy of Finance. 8:30 a.m. to noon, July 28-August 8, Room 121, Center for Bioscience and Information Technology on the Kenosha Campus, 3520-30th Ave. For students entering grades eight to 10 in Fall 2014, free to students eligible for the federal free and reduced lunch program. Program eligibility paperwork required.

Barber Designs. 8:30 a.m. to noon, August 4-August 7, Room S137 in the Science Building on the Kenosha Campus, 3520-30th Ave. Cost: $50.

Youth Power Academy of Finance. 8:30 a.m. to noon, August 11-August 22, Superior Room 102, in the Racine Building on the Racine Campus, 1001 S. Main St., Racine. Offered to students entering grades eight to 10 in Fall 2014, free to students eligible for the federal free and reduced lunch program. Program eligibility paperwork required.
