Student Employment Services

Career Counselors assist students and graduates in obtaining employment by teaching the skills necessary for an effective employment search. We offer assistance with job-seeking skills/strategies, resume development as well as interviewing techniques.

Employers – Posting job openings/internships

Go to www.wisconsintechconnect.com to post your job openings. Jobs are typically posted within 1-2 days. When entering the site for the first time, please click on EMPLOYERS BEGIN HERE to create an account.  Wisconsin TechConnect allows you to target your posting to specific degrees, reaching students and graduates across all sixteen Wisconsin Technical Colleges.

Students – Seeking employment

Any student enrolled in a Technical Diploma or Associate Degree Program or graduate of Gateway Technical College may utilize our jobs leads database called Wisconsin TechConnect. Go to www.wisconsintechconnect.com to create an account. Students can also View Our Upcoming Events on the website for job fairs and workshops.

Upload your resume to Wisconsin TechConnect

When an employer posts a job on Wisconsin TechConnect that matches your diploma/degree, your uploaded resume will automatically appear in the employer's Resume Bank. This enhances your job search and puts your resume in front of prospective employers. If you would like your resume reviewed before posting it to TechConnect, contact a Career Counselor for assistance.

Labor Market

Labor market information can be valuable to a job seeker when negotiating wages. It is wise to research your occupation’s salary range before your interview. If the employer chooses to approach the subject and find out your salary expectations, you will have a reasonable place to begin negotiating wages based on your research.

Classroom Presentations

Instructors are encouraged to contact the Gateway Career Counselor on their campus to arrange classroom presentations. Topics can include very brief descriptions of the employment services available at Gateway to more in-depth discussions of more complex topics, like interviews, labor market information, the hidden job market, cover letters and resumes. Due to the counselor’s ongoing student appointments, booking presentations at least a month ahead is recommended.
